Topsy Turvy Ruffle Wedding Cake (2226)

Topsy Turvy Wedding Gown inspired Cake

Topsy Turvy Ruffle Cake inspired by bride’s gown

This 4 tier wedding cake incorporates several different trends which merge fashion and cakes. First, the topsy turvy cake itself is a popular trend now for weddings because it takes the classic wedding cake and adds a twist. We also incorporated several fashion details from the bride’s dress.

The cake includes sugar ruffles that mimic organza ruffles that are so popular on wedding dresses right now. We also used textured bands on the base of each tier inspired by fashion trends for wedding gowns. Lastly we used beaded decorations on the top tier which were also inspired by the dress

The entire cake is covered with white fondant with ivory ribbon and champagne colored separators. Flowers included peonies, hydrangea and roses to match with the bride’s flower selection.

Piped pearl effect to mimic bride’s wedding gown

We created piped detail effects and ruffled detail on each cake tier to coordinate with the brides gown. The entire cake was vanilla cake with raspberry chambord buttercream and we delivered the cake to Hollywood Golf Course in Deal, NJ.

Here’s a video we shot at the bakery:

From the video:

We have a four tier wedding cake and the cake is based on the bride’s wedding gown. We have piping detail to mimic her dress and we included roses, peonies and hydrangea. The next tier includes a ruffle effect that is also on the bride’s gown. At the base, the banding mimics the wedding dress’s sash around the waist…
