Marvelous Metallic Cakes for Every Occasion
Sometimes there are people and events so special in our lives that they seem to shine. If your guest of honor or your planned event is worthy of some sparkle, then metallic cake designs might be for you! Silver, gold and glitter are some of the hottest trends in cake decor this year. Your shine can be subtle, or it can be bold, depending upon your taste. Ah, yes, taste. All of these metallic cakes taste as good as they look, too!
Spectacular Silver Cakes
We worked with Sincerely Yours Events to design this damask silver and white wedding cake. We used silver ribbon wrap to give the cake a subtle shine, and accented the round tiers with lavender colored sugar flowers. There are even silver petals scattered throughout to highlight the couples’ color choice.
Here’s a cake that literally sparkles for the guest of honor. A silver and white sweet 16 cake in three round and square tiers, it features cascading crystals and snowflakes, too. A silver looped bow adorns the top and a five row crystal band completes the bottom. The birthday girl’s name shines in silver at the center, atop a quilted pattern of fondant. This wedding cake has been featured in many of our articles because it encompasses so many different design elements. Created for our sales manager, Nicole, it features six tiers of silver, gray, charcoal and white. There are two silver leaf separators to enhance height, and sugar flowers with accenting color shades.
Who wouldn’t want to open these gift boxes? This three tiered topsy turvy cake was created for a bridal shower, and features multiple metallic accents including silver bows, polka dots, and a sparkling glitter brooch at the top.
Glorious Golden Cakes
This vintage 50th anniversary cake is golden and glorious! The soft shades of champagne accent the pastel sugar flowers behind damask and golden leaves. Gold piping, monograms and a golden 50 help to make this cake sparkle. Two golden lovebirds sit atop the cake, inspired by our popular bird nest topper. Also included with this cake were heart-shaped cookie favors and glittering cupcakes to match.
This wedding cake was the first we made entirely covered in gold. Accented with red roses and brown ribbons on each tier, it carries a shine all its own!
Our gift box cakes are very popular, and this golden one was created for a client’s wedding. Golden bows, gold piping and gold swiss dots created sparkle and shine, while white roses added elegance and flair. Not to be forgotten were the amazing flavors included within these five tiers: orange zest cake with dulce de leche con guava, chocolate cake with raspberry, and vanilla cake with vanilla filling, just to name a few.
Looking for a more subtle gold tone for your cake? Try piping or gold detail. This flowered wedding cake featured five tiers with peony accents and subtle gold bands . The gold monogrammed ‘Z’ helps continue the color scheme and add an elegant sparkle.
This red damask wedding cake is a unique focal point for any event. The damask gold piping and golden rope details replicated the bride’s beautiful invitations.
Silver and Gold Creations
Can’t make up your mind between gold and silver? Why not include both? This sweet 16 cake has metallic silver fondant tiers and a glittery golden bow at its center. A swirling gold scrolled 16 acts as topper to finish off this shiny creation.
Our silver and gold 30th birthday cake has elegant silver piping throughout, but beautiful bling around its center, too, in the form of a shiny golden bow. The cake is topped with a glittering 30 and sparkling gold and silver twirled candles.
If you’re not ready to take the plunge into metallic madness, perhaps a more subtle accent is for you. This 50th birthday cupcake tower is a great example of how metallics can be incorporated into your dessert display. The silver and gold cupcake wrappers accent the cake topper for an eye-catching shine.
Some cakes are unconventional, but also the most fun! Our bull and bear cakes were created in silver and gold for a Wall Street employee’s retirement-birthday party. They were created with a combination of modeling chocolate, cake, and rice krispie treats. They’re larger than you think! Check out the video we shot at our shop.
As you can see, there are so many ways to make metallics work at your event, so don’t be afraid to let your cake shine!
