Behind the Scenes: Tracy & Megan’s Wedding Cake (2848)
The Cake Tasting
By the end of the tasting, Tracy was serenading my staff with his rendition of the “Love Boat” theme song
Who doesn’t love Tracy Morgan?!
The day of the tasting came, and Tracy and Megan arrived with their adorable daughter, Maven. First of all, Megan is beyond sweet, and so so so naturally beautiful, it’s not really fair to other woman 🙂 Their two year old daughter, Maven, is the most adorable little thing on two legs (next to my own children of course 🙂 ) and then there is Tracy. He truly is a humble, sweet and hysterical person. Despite the immense challenges he has faced this past year, he was enthusiastic, comical and clearly very much in love with Megan and Maven!
While we didn’t get super far in the cake design area, I definitely heard a whole lot of funny, while feeding Tracy and Megan countless cake and filling flavors. I mean he REALLY is that hysterical. I think the highlights of the tasting were:
- 1) Tracy and Megan saying our cake was ‘off the hook’ and applauding all the talent at Pink Cake Box
- 2) By the end of the tasting, Tracy was serenading my staff with his rendition of the “Love Boat” theme song
- 3) Tracy declared through the streets of Denville that “T Morgan is back!”
We agree – T Morgan is back and better than ever! Especially now that he has tied the knot with his amazing new wife!
A huge thank you to Jenny Orsini and her team for including us in this amazing event and trusting us to create a cake that would compliment her vision! Also a big old high five to Lisa and team at A Touch of Elegance for inspiring us with your floral artistry.
And of course a HUMONGOUS thank you to my amazing staff and team!
Everyone had some sort of involvement with this cake, whether it was baking, filling, fondanting, stacking, creating edible sugar lace, or making the more than 1500 sugar flowers that adorned this cake. This cake is a labor of love and dedication and I truly appreciate all of your hard work!!!!
The Cake Structure
This 5’5″ cake included 1500 sugar flowers which took over a month for our staff to create!
The cake stood 5′ 5″ tall, and featured 8 tiers, a topper and 3 floral separator tiers. The bottom floral separator featured floral ‘legs’ that held up the bottom tier. This is a one of a kind design for an amazing couple.
We used a stainless steel support system inside the cake due to its insane height and weight. The blush pink tiers were covered in delicate edible lace and the remaining ivory tiers were decorated with fondant lace appliques, to give the cake a soft romantic field.
Included in the 1500 flowers were multiple types of roses, as well as phaleanopsis orchids and hydrangea, to mimic the floral arrangements featured at the wedding.
The middle tier featured an ornate edible gold “M” and scrolling which mimicked the invitation and stationary by the talented staff at www.paperworksandevents.com.
This crazy tall cake of course was full of fun flavors! Flavors included:
- Vanilla with chocolate buttercream, Italian meringue vanilla bean, chocolate hazelnut
- Marble with raspberry chambord buttercream, Italian meringue vanilla bean, vanilla buttercream.
- Chocolate with oreos and cream buttercream
The Groom’s Cake
The night wouldn’t be complete without the surprise groom’s cake Megan selected for her new husband…what else but gold and diamond Rolex watch cake! The watch box cake was chocolate cake filled with oreo filling.
Not to be outdone, we also created wedding cookie favors for the guests!
Here’s a video we shot at the bakery with some more background on the cake:
