Top 10 Wedding Cakes 2010 (10)
We recently compiled our top 10 cakes for 2010 based on traffic results from 2010 and are still awaiting results of the voting for our people’s choice for best cake of 2010. So, like we’ve done every year since 2007, we’ve also compiled a list of top wedding cakes for 2010 based on traffic, comments, and facebook likes.
Looking back, 2010 was a fantastic and exciting year for wedding cakes at Pink Cake Box. We had the honor of doing a few celebrity weddings including Bethenny Frankel’s wedding cake and Paul Teutul Jr’s wedding cake. We also were fortunate to have a few of our wedding cakes appear on national tv including “My Fair Wedding” with David Tutera and “Who’s Wedding Is It Anyway?” on the Style Network. And we created some unusual and unique wedding cakes which pushed the envelope of the traditional wedding cake. We want to thank all our brides, grooms, wedding planners, photographers and vendors for a successful 2010!
Speaking of unique, this colorful tropical love birds wedding cake was one of our favorite wedding cakes we made this year. The bright colors and theme really made the cake unique. Photo from the award winning NJ photographers Chris & Suzanne Lo Bue of CLB Photography. We worked with wedding planner Jenny Orsini from Pampered Bride Weddings for this cake.
Coming in the #9 spot, is this 5 tier paisley wedding cake that we created for my friend Laura from My Bellissima. The cake was a champagne color to match Laura’s dress and the ruching between the tiers also matched her gown.
At #8 is the wedding cake we created for Paul Teutul Jr. from the reality TV show American Chopper and his wife Rachel, for their wedding at the beautiful Bonnet Island, LBI. The wedding looked amazing and some of the top vendors from NJ took part including Stephanie Somodi – Invitations, MDS Floral Design & The Studio Photographers.
This fun and whimsical wedding cake, clocking in at #7, was created for a Monte Carlo themed wedding that appeared on “My Fair Wedding” with David Tutera. The beautiful photo was taken by Lev Kuperman Photography.
For our #6 cake of the year we present our manager Beverly’s wedding cake. A very special wedding cake for us to make and we managed to work in a ladybug as well.
I love the reaction of the bride as she was introduced to the cake for the first time at the reception. We created this winter wedding cake for “Who’s Wedding Is It Anyway?” on the Style Network. For the show, we worked with wedding planner Julie Conley from Warren Country Event Planning. Robert Caplin of Avow Weddings took this beautiful photo of the wedding cake.
How could a top ten list be complete with a wedding cupcake stand? We custom built this multi-tier 8 tier wedding cupcake stand for a wedding in Somesert, NJ. The beautiful photo provided by David and Amy Lau Photography.
In 2010, Bethenny Frankel, the former Real Housewives of NY star, starred in her own show “Bethanny Getting Married” which was a huge hit. We were ecstatic when our friend and wedding planner Shawn Rabideau called us to help design Bethenny’s cake.
We had the pleasure of working with Melissa Loiacono of Pampered Bride Weddings on this enormous bows and bling wedding cake.
The reigning champ from the top cakes of 2010 is also the top cake in the wedding cakes category. This xkcd comic wedding cake was by far the most popular cake for 2010 with 2,482 facebook likes and tens of thousands of visitors. It appeared all over the web, including my husbands favorite magazine – Wired.
